My Experience with Public Speaking Presentations

Mia Rodriguez

Recently, my classmates and I presented different chapters from our Public Speaking class, and overall, I really enjoyed the experience. Even though I was very nervous before presenting, I feel proud of myself for getting through it and doing my best. Every group had a different chapter and different information to share, which made the presentations interesting and unique. I honestly do not think any group was boring because everyone clearly put effort into their slides, organization, and speaking. It was nice to see how creative and prepared my classmates were, and I think the presentations helped all of us learn more about communication and public speaking in different ways.

Watching Other Groups Present

The presentation that I enjoyed the most was Group 1’s presentation. I thought they explained their information very clearly and stayed organized throughout the entire presentation. Their slides were creative, visually appealing, and easy to follow, which helped the audience stay focused on the topic. I also liked that the group members spoke confidently and explained their ideas in a calm and natural way instead of simply reading from the slides. They used good examples and visuals that made the chapter easier to understand, and I could tell they prepared before presenting. Even though they did not ask the class questions, they kept the audience interested because of the way they explained the information and transitioned smoothly between topics. Their presentation felt professional, and it showed me how important preparation and teamwork are during a speech.

I also really enjoyed Group 2’s presentation because they presented their information in a very engaging and organized way. One thing I noticed was that they seemed comfortable speaking in front of the class, which made the presentation easier to listen to. Their slides matched their topic well, and they explained their chapter in a simple but effective way that helped everyone understand the information better. I liked how each group member contributed equally and stayed focused on their part of the presentation. Watching different groups present helped me realize that every speaker has a different style, and that public speaking is not about being perfect but about communicating clearly and connecting with the audience.

During the presentations, I noticed that every group had a different style. Some groups used more visuals, some groups focused more on explanations, and others tried to connect with the audience by speaking in a more conversational way. I think that made the presentations more enjoyable because every group brought something different to the class. It also showed me that there is not only one correct way to present information. Public speaking allows people to express themselves differently while still communicating important ideas.

My Experience Presenting

When it was my turn to present, I was honestly very nervous. Before speaking, I kept thinking about making mistakes or forgetting what I wanted to say. Public speaking can be stressful because many people feel afraid of speaking in front of a class. However, I tried to stay calm and remember that I prepared for the presentation. I practiced many times before class because I wanted to feel more confident and make sure I understood my topics well.

My part of the presentation focused on introductions and conclusions in speeches, understanding language, and using language effectively. While preparing, I realized how important these topics are in communication. A strong introduction can immediately catch the audience’s attention, while a strong conclusion helps people remember the message. I also learned that language is very powerful because words can have different meanings depending on culture, emotions, and situations. Speakers need to choose their words carefully so the audience clearly understands the message.

One thing I tried to do during my presentation was speak clearly and naturally. I did not want to sound robotic or like I was only reading from the slides. I wanted the audience to understand the information while also feeling connected to what I was saying. Even though I was nervous, I think practicing helped me speak more confidently. I also tried to explain examples in a simple way so the class could easily follow along.

I personally think my slides turned out very nice. I liked the pink theme and the organization of the information because it looked clean and easy to read. I also enjoyed adding visuals because I think pictures and designs help presentations feel more interesting. One thing I learned from this assignment is that visuals are very important in presentations because they help keep the audience engaged. If a presentation only has too much text, people may stop paying attention.

What I Learned

Another thing I learned from all the presentations is how important preparation is. The groups that seemed the most confident were usually the groups that practiced and knew their material well. Preparation helps speakers feel less nervous and more organized. Even though nervousness is normal, being prepared can make a big difference. I realized that confidence does not mean someone is not nervous. It means they continue speaking and do their best even while feeling nervous.

I also appreciated how respectful everyone in the class was during the presentations. Most students paid attention and listened carefully to the speakers. That made the classroom environment feel more comfortable and supportive. Presenting in front of classmates can already feel intimidating, so having a respectful audience really helps speakers feel more confident.

"Public speaking is not just about talking, but about connecting with people.''

Overall, this experience taught me a lot about communication, confidence, and public speaking skills. I learned that presentations are not only about sharing information but also about connecting with the audience and making ideas easy to understand. I also learned that good speakers use organization, visuals, clear language, and strong introductions and conclusions to make their message more effective.

Even though I was nervous at first, I am happy that I challenged myself and presented in front of the class. I feel like this experience helped me improve my confidence and communication skills. Watching the other groups also helped me learn different presentation techniques and ideas that I can use in the future. I think every group worked hard, and I enjoyed seeing everyone’s creativity and effort during their presentations.
